The West Kirk of Helensburgh, ‘the Kirk in the Square’, stands proudly in Colquhoun Square, right in the heart of Helensburgh, part of the Dumbarton Presbytery. The West Kirk was formed through unions between St Andrew's, the Old Parish Church and St Bride's. It has fine stained glass windows including a memorial to John Logie Baird, inventor of Television, whose father was a former minister of St Bride's. The window was dedicated and unveiled by Baird’s widow in 1988. The large window in the east end is a memorial to Bonar Law, the former British Prime Minister.

Services are held each Sunday morning at 11.00 a.m. from September to April and 10.00 a.m. from May to August. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month preceded by a short service of meditation at 09.00 a.m. May to August and 09.30 a.m. September to April. Visitors are especially welcome at all of our services. West Kirk Youngsters meet during each main service and there is a crèche available for the very young.

Prayers for healing are normally said on the fourth Sunday of each month and if you would like someone included please let us have details by E-mail or ring the Church Office on +44 ( 0) 1436 676880.

The Church Office, just above the Kirk in Colquhoun Street, is open on Tuesday to Friday from 09.30 to 12 noon and also on Thursday evenings from 6.00 to 8.00 p.m.

The West Kirk is part of the Helensburgh Parish Grouping, with our sister churches of Park & St Columba. All three churches are working together to bring the word of God to the Helensburgh Community in a more effective way. This involves worship, social activities, study groups, youth work and a host of other matters. For teenagers within the Parish Group, there is a Youth Fellowship which meets in Park Church.
